Interlending
The Libraries and Information East Midlands is a co-operative organisation which provides a framework for mutual help to libraries in the East Midlands. It also provides a voice for members in the inter-regional and national fora of inter-library co-operation. The Regional Librarian is a member of the Circle of Officers of National and Regional Library Systems (CONARLS).
Libraries and Information East Midlands aims to promote library co-operation and resource sharing within and beyond the region. A summary of material available for interlending within the region can be found below together with an indication of the rates charged to other LIEM member organisations.
As part of a national exercise to identify collections of Non English language fiction material across the UK and their availability for inter-lending, Libraries and Information East Midlands has collected information from all the East Midlands public libraries and the results can be accessed below as a word document. Information about collections held in other regions can be found on the websites of Noirthwest Libraries Interlending Partnership and SWRLS. A new searchable database giving details of more than 1600 non-English language fiction collections across the Engish regions and Scotland is now available via the Conarls website.
Libraries and Information East Midlands is a member of The Combined Regions and has a committment to improving the accuracy and currency of bibliographical data on the UnityUK database. Libraries and Information East Midlands members are encouraged to add their holdings information to the database. The Secretariat provides a free locations checking service for members who make infrequent use of interlending, and who would be unable to justify the cost of a UnityUK licence.
